Travel Restrictions due to COVID-19

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS AND MEASURE TO COUNTER COVID-19 FROM ENTERING PNG

Passengers originating from  CHINA KOREA, JAPAN, ITALY AND IRAN will be required to complete a 14 day quarantine outside the country:

All Entry from International ports will be subject to passing quarantine;

A 14 day quarantine to be carried out at transition ports Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Manila and Australian Ports.

Cruise Ships and Leisure yachts carrying more than 15 passengers are banned from entering PNG.

All ships requiring quarantine clearance must be cleared only at the Motukea, Lae and Rabaul ports.

Border Travel is banned.

PNG Immigration & Citizenship Authority Notice

The Coronavirus is moving across borders and we are imposing these measures as first step in our efforts to ensure this global health concern is prevented offshore.
1. Temporary suspension on Online Visas. All visitors are advised to lodge visa applications at a PNG Diplomatic Mission near you.
2. Temporary suspension of Visa on Arrival for all eligible countries.
3. Temporary shutdown of the Wutung Border Post in Vanimo, West Sepik Province by Thursday 30 January, 2020.
4. Refusal of Entry for travellers from the Asian Ports – All operating airliners and passenger vessels bringing in passengers from any Asian ports will be refused entry into the country.
5. PNG Nationals and Residents re-entering PNG from any Asian countries must go through the mandatory temperature screening and subject to Health Department requirements.

New Visa Fees Effective 1 January 2020

Due to recent changes to visa fees set by the Papua New Guinea Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA), the following new visa fees will come into effect from the 1st of January 2020.

New Visa Fees effective from 1 January 2020

  • Business Visa Single Entry – NZD$ 350.00
  • REV – Restricted Employment Visa – NZD$ 600.00
  • Journalists Visa – NZD$ 600.00
